Privacy Policy
WakeWars is a boat racing game made by Module Creative LLC (“we”). The short version: the only thing the game sends us is what the leaderboards need: your nickname, an anonymous player ID and your lap times. There are no accounts of our own, no analytics, no ads and no tracking, and we never sell or share your information. Purchases are made through Apple or Google, never through us.
What the game keeps on your device
Your progress (coins, boats, parts, wins, medals and settings such as sound volume) is saved only on your phone or tablet. We can’t see it, and it is deleted if you delete the game. The game may also keep a small technical log of frame rate, memory and loading times on your device to help it recover from problems; that log never leaves the device.
Leaderboards and the Weekly Cup
WakeWars has leaderboards that everyone shares, on iPhone, iPad and Android, and a Weekly Cup. They run on our own server at api.wakewarsgame.com, hosted by Cloudflare. When you set a lap time on a leaderboard map or race the Weekly Cup, the game sends us:
- Your nickname. If you’re signed in to Game Center, this is your Game Center nickname. On Android, or when you’re not signed in, it is your race number, such as “RACER 07”.
- An anonymous player ID. The game makes it on your device by scrambling (hashing) your Game Center player ID, so your Game Center ID itself never reaches us. Without Game Center, it is a random ID made when the game is installed. It lets the boards keep your best time in one place and stops one player filling a board.
- Your race results: the lap time, the map or week, the boat and its colours, and the game version.
Your nickname, lap times and boat are shown to other players on the leaderboards. We keep your best time on each board, when you first and last sent one, and a count of laps sent each hour to limit abuse. As with the map downloads, your device’s IP address is used to reach the server, but we don’t store it with your times. If you race offline, your times wait on your device and are sent the next time you’re online.
To remove yourself, open Settings → Leaderboards → Delete my leaderboard data: it erases your name, player ID and every time you’ve sent. You can also write to us at the address below. Otherwise we keep your times for as long as the leaderboards run.
If you’re signed in, the game also sends your best laps and achievements to Apple’s Game Center, where other Game Center players can see them. Apple handles that under its own privacy policy, and you can turn Game Center off in your device’s Settings.
In-app purchases
WakeWars sells coin packs and a one-time Starter Pack. Every purchase is made and paid through Apple’s App Store or Google Play: we never receive your name, payment details or store account. The game checks each purchase on your device and keeps the store’s transaction number in its save on your device, so that a purchase is paid out only once; nothing about your purchases is sent to us. Apple and Google give us sales reports, such as how many of each pack sold in each country, which don’t identify you.
Coins you buy never expire. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to cancel a purchase of coins you haven’t used within 14 days: ask Apple or Google, or write to us at the address below.
Downloading maps
Some race maps are downloaded after you install the game. They come from our website, wakewarsgame.com, which is hosted by Cloudflare. As with any download, your device’s IP address is used to deliver the files, and Cloudflare may keep standard technical logs for security and reliability. We don’t use this to identify you, and nothing about you or your game is sent with these downloads.
Crash reports from Apple and Google
If you have chosen to share diagnostics with Apple or Google in your device settings, they may give us anonymous crash reports and performance statistics (for example, the device model and where the game stopped). These are handled under Apple’s and Google’s privacy policies and contain nothing that identifies you.
Children
WakeWars is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children: the leaderboards hold only a nickname, an anonymous ID and lap times. If you believe a child’s nickname is on our leaderboards, write to us and we’ll delete it.
The website
wakewarsgame.com, including the playable demo, uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser may cache the game files so the demo loads faster next time.
Changes
If a future version adds anything that handles personal information, such as optional reward videos, we will update this policy and the date above before that version is released.
